Maureen Onesti T.C.R.G
Academy Principle Teacher

The Maureen Onesti Academy was established in 1995, in Motherwell, by T.C.R.G, Maureen Onesti. In her younger days, Maureen was a very successful champion, winning many championships throughout Scotland, England and Ireland. Maureen's continued interest and passion for Irish Dancing, led to the establishment of her very own school, teaching all aspects of Irish Dancing, from Solo Step, to Team/Ceili Dancing. Maureen owes all her successes to date to her teacher, Jean Taylor A.D.C.R.G who taught Maureen since the age of 8 and has passed many skills she was taught onto her own pupils today.

Throughout the years, Maureen followed her daughter, Cara's dancing career, whilst running and expanding her own successful dance school in the North Lanarkshire area. Maureen's help, advice and instruction, helped her daughter become a champion dancers, winning many many titles, including 3rd place in the World Championships.

Cara is an assistant teacher within the class. Cara has recently passed her first part of her T.C.R.G exam and is looking forward to taking her 2nd part in February 2012 hopefully becoming a teacher in her own right.

Maureen and Cara have a positive partnership and aim to provide the finest instruction in Irish Dancing. Throughout the years, the Maureen Onesti Academy has grew from strength to strength, coaching pupils from beginner level to producing many many champions. Maureen and Cara style of teaching is very interactive with all pupils with all new material taught at a pace suitable to each dancer's ability. You will always find Maureen & Cara on the floor with the dancers demonstrating just how they want a step to be performed. As you can see from these selection of photographs, both Maureen & Cara are very 'hands on' at every class.

Maureen places great importance on making sure her dance classes are held within a safe environment. Both Maureen and Cara have the required 'Disclosure Scotland' checks which is required by the Local Authority when working with children in the UK. Due to Maureen's professional career, as a Tutor, she feels she is highly experienced and has advanced knowledge of what is required when working with children. Cara Onesti

Cara Onesti
Assistant & Trainee T.C.R.G

It would be pretty fair to say, that Cara was born into Irish Dancing.  Not long after she had leared to walk, the next steps she was taught were her 'hop for sevens', and how to point her toe.  At the mere age of two and a half, Cara was taken along to her first dance class, at the Taylor School. Jean Taylor taught Cara as a young two and a half  year old and at the age of 4, Cara won the All Scotland Championship. This was history repeating itself as Cara's mum Maureen was one of Jean Taylor's very 1st dancers in the early 70's.

Similarly to her mum, Cara had a natural talent for Irish Dancing, and won her first open championsip at the age of 4.  At this very young age, as I've said, Cara claimed her first All Scotland title and continued her winning ways throughout her dancing career, winning roughly 60 plus, open championships.

At the age of 12,  Cara's dancing career escalated further, winning third place in the World Championships in Galway, and for many years being placed top three in the All Ireland, Great Britain, British Nationals and winning the All Scotland Championships for many years.

Cara was also involved in figure dancing, and in 2000 achieved a 2nd place, silver World Medal, for the senior ladies figure.

Since the establishment of her mother's dance school in 1995, Cara has been very much involved, striking up a teaching partnership with her mother.  Cara's involvement has naturally progressed through the years, which has also added to the success of the school.

Cara is proud of the Academies successes to date knowing that she has assisted in passing on her skills to many dancers who have become champions in their own right. It is very evident how well Cara works with the other dancers at all classes and how much they enjoy being taught by her.

Cara is looking forward to the day she is a 'fully qualified T.C.R.G' - Class Locations Cara recently passed her first part of her
T.C.R.G exam and looks forward to her final part in February 2012 to become a fully qualified T.C.R.G
